NACC Research Funding
NACC has two separate funding programmes, one for
Medical Awards and one for Social, Psychological or Health Services
Awards. With effect from 2006, the intention is that there will be an
opportunity to apply for both programmes every year. About £350,000 is
available each year, but NACC hopes to raise this to £500,000 by the end
of 2007.

Medical Research Awards
Grants are usually for one or two year projects and
can cover staff salaries and consumables, but not institutional overhead
costs. PhD research projects have not often been funded, but are not
excluded. NACC is willing to consider applications for relatively small
amounts for pilot projects which, if successful, might lead to an
application for a larger project. Any aspect of research related to
Colitis or Crohn’s Disease can be considered.
Medical Research Awards 2008
Applications are invited for the year 2008 grants to
be awarded by the National Association for Colitis and Crohn’s Disease.
Research Projects may be directed towards any aspect of Inflammatory
Bowel Disease. Applications for pilot studies under £6,000 will also be
acceptable. Successful applicants will be informed in March 2008.
Applications for the 2008 awards must be received by
NACC before Friday 8th November 2007:

Peer Review of Applications In assessing all applications, NACC follows
peer-review principles approved by the
Association of Medical Research Charities. For example, the Chairman
of the Committee may not apply for grants, any Committee member
associated with an application or applicant institution is excluded from
the award discussion and reports are requested from two external
referees on each application. NACC has been awarded
the AMRC Certificate of Good Practice for its peer review procedures. |
